Other nominees in the category included "The Crown," "Fallout," "The Gilded Age," "The Morning Show," "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," "Slow Horses" and "3 Body Problem."

Anna Sawai, in a tearful acceptance speech for lead actress in a drama series for her work on "Shōgun," thanked her co-stars and gave a sweet shoutout to her mom.

"Mom, I love you. You are the reason I'm here. You showed me stoicism, and that's how I was able to portray Mariko," she said.

Sawai dedicated her win to "all the women who expect nothing and continue to be an example for everyone."

Other nominees in the category included Jennifer Aniston ("The Morning Show"), Carrie Coon ("The Gilded Age"), Maya Erskine ("Mr. & Mrs. Smith"), Imelda Staunton ("The Crown") and Reese Witherspoon ("The Morning Show").

Several "Abbott Elementary" cast members have arrived on the Emmys red carpet.

Quinta Brunson, who is nominated tonight for lead actress in a comedy series, walked the carpet in a floor-length black gown with large bows by Georges Chakra.

Lisa Ann Walter arrived in a white gown with a unique chartreuse sash detail, while Janelle James also arrived on the carpet in a fun one-shoulder floor-length gown with a dramatic slit.

Tyler James Williams also hit the carpet in a stylish look, opting for a daring take on a classic suit that showed off his biceps.

"Abbott Elementary" is also nominated tonight for outstanding comedy series.
