An immersive Malibu Barbie pop-up restaurant is coming to 2 cities this summer
You can be a Barbie girl in a Barbie world this summer thanks to a new, limited-time immersive experience opening in two major cities.
Bucket Listers, the team behind viral pop-up restaurants like the Golden Girls Kitchen, announced it will make waves with The Malibu Barbie Café, where fans of all ages can enjoy Mattel's iconic brand like never before.
The family friendly pop-up opens in New York City on May 17 and Chicago on June 7. According to a press release, it was inspired by the "groovy beachside energy of 1970s Malibu, California," and the beach-bound Malibu Barbie doll that debuted in 1971.
"From the beach-loving décor to the menu, every detail has been thoughtfully designed to celebrate the iconic Barbie style, with nostalgic details fans will love," Julie Freeland, senior director of location based entertainment for Mattel, said in a statement.
The team tapped "MasterChef" semi-finalist Becky Brown to create the menu for the fast-casual restaurant, which will emphasize an all-day brunch, desserts and drinks.
There will also be exclusive merchandise for purchase on site and signature photo moments for fans to interact with.
"Barbie has proven to be one of history's ultimate icons, [and] we just couldn't pass up this chance to bring her world to life," Bucket Listers CEO and founder Andy Lederman said.
Each ticket purchase includes a reserved seat and guaranteed time slot to dine with a choice of entree.
The tickets are available to the public on April 19 exclusively through Bucket Listers. Fans can join the digital waitlist early to be notified when tickets officially go on sale.
