Gigi Hadid stuns post-pregnancy on Vogue's March 2021 cover
Gigi Hadid is opening up about motherhood, as well as life beyond modeling, as Vogue's March 2021 cover star.
The cover is the model's first since giving birth to her baby girl, Khai Hadid Malik, last September.
"As a model, she's perfected the art of living in the spotlight," the publication wrote in a caption alongside an Instagram post unveiling its latest cover. "But motherhood has opened @gigihadid up to a new world — and a new set of priorities."
For Gigi's March cover, she was photographed by Ethan James Green wearing a patterned Prada coat and sleek, straight hair styled by Jimmy Paul.
The 25-year-old model shared her experience with having a natural birth and having second thoughts, saying, "There definitely was a point where I was like, I wonder what it would be like with an epidural, how it would be different. My midwife looked at me and was like, 'You're doing it. No one can help you. You're past the point of the epidural anyway, so you'd be pushing exactly the same way in a hospital bed.'"
She also said that while she had to "dig deep" through the pain of giving birth, she had an instant maternal instinct and pictured herself as probably looking like "an animal woman."
The cover shoot was done in early December at a studio in Manhattan. Gigi said it was the first time she'd left her daughter since birth, according to Vogue. Her mother, Yolanda Hadid, took care of her granddaughter in Gigi's absence.
"I'm proud of her face on a magazine, but seeing her give birth was a whole other level of proud," Yolanda told the magazine. "You go from looking at her as a daughter to looking at her as a fellow mother."
Vogue's March cover is slated to hit newsstands nationwide on Feb. 16.
