Fashion Awards 2021 best moments: Idris Elba pays tribute to Virgil Abloh
Presented by TikTok, the Fashion Awards 2021 event was packed with memorable moments and head-turning red carpet style.
This year's affair took place at London's Royal Albert Hall Monday evening and was hosted by actor and fashion powerhouse Billy Porter.
One of the most heartfelt tributes of the evening came from Idris Elba. During his time on stage, he honored the life and legacy of Off-White founder and Louis Vuitton artistic director Virgil Abloh, who died on Sunday after a long battle with cancer. Abloh was 41.
"Those who know Virgil know he would want us to have a good time," said Elba during his tribute. "Tonight's entire show is dedicated to Virgil Abloh's life."
He also recited Maya Angelou's "When Trees Fall" poem along with remarks on Abloh's legacy, saying, "he didn't do it for the fame or the money, he did it to inspire others."
A host of other tributes have continued to pour in for the late designer all over social media including recent words from Kim Kardashian, Lenny Kravitz, Frank Ocean and many others.
In additon to Elba's heartfelt tribute, the Fashion Awards also featured standout looks on the red carpet ahead of the show.
