'Euphoria's' lead nail artist Natalie Minerva breaks down how to get 3 looks inspired by Cassie, Kat and Maddy
"Euphoria's" leading nail artist Natalie Minerva is a mani mastermind.
Aside from the jaw-dropping moments from season two, the show has some pretty incredible glam moments.
In addition to the makeup, you might have caught a glimpse of the intricate nail art worn by some of the series' stars.
"GMA" tapped Minerva to break down three cool nail looks inspired by the personalities of "Euphoria" characters Cassie, Maddy and Kat.
"I was thinking of these sets as almost 'alternate' scene nails," she said. "They have a similar feeling to sets we saw on this season of 'Euphoria,' but with my own personal twists."
Scroll ahead, to see just how these three euphoric nail looks came together.
Minerva's product suggestions:
- Apres Gel X extensions: Durable and easy to use as well as remove.
- Apres Gel X tinted gels for base colors: Perfect for French manicure looks
- Ricca gel nail polish: Pigmented and great for nail art
- Presto Non Wip top gel polish: Long-lasting shine for up to three weeks with limited to no chipping issues.
- Apres Gel X UV LED light lamp: Helps cure and set all nail looks quickly.
Which "Euphoria" personality are you?
Cassie
"With our girl Cassie, I wanted to stay in that feminine, soft world we were in this season with her," said Minerva. "I did a rhinestone-centric nail with some baby heart rhinestones to dive deeper into her love-crazed psychosis she's going through this season."
Get the look:
Step 1: Apply a pearlescent pink nude base color to each nail.
Step 2: Add a soft shimmery pink nail shade as a second coat.
Step 3: Add soft builder gel to each nail.
Step 4: Sporadically place gems (faux diamonds, studs, rhinestone appliques) to each nail and allow each to dry for a few seconds. Cure each nail under a UV LED gel light.
Step 5: Lock in the look by applying a clear topcoat of nail polish.
Step 6: Place all nails, one hand at a time, under UV LED gel light to set and finish.
Maddy
"When painting your French tip, make sure to do a high arch to really accentuate the depth," said Minerva. "You can always cure your French tip, and then follow up after with the corset addition so it's easier to paint. Once again, be sure not to cover your diamond in top gel so it stays shiny."
Get the look:
Step 1: Apply two coats of nude-toned gel color to each nail, and cure between layers under a UV LED gel light.
Step 2: Using black gel nail polish trace a high arch just before each tip. Connect those lines to the lower arch (similar to an oval-shaped circle). Also, trace a small half-moon shape facing downward under each lower arch. Using the same black shade, fill in the tip of each nail as well as the tiny side triangles at the intersection of the lower arch and the bottom half-moon. Cure each nail after tracing.
Step 3: Apply soft builder gel to each nail, and cure.
Step 4: Add a singular large diamond applique at the center of the intersections of each lower arch and bottom half-moon. Cure each nail after adding nail appliques.
Step 5: Add top gel to each nail, and make sure to avoid the diamond so it doesn't lose its flash.
Step 6: Place all nails, one hand at a time, under UV LED gel light to set and finish.
Kat
"When applying the ombre, use the littlest amount of color possible and work your way up the nail from tip to cuticle," said Minerva. "I added the black lining on the smile line just to create a bold transition of color."
Get the look:
Step 1: Apply two coats of nude-toned base gel nail color to each nail, and cure each under a UV LED gel light for a few seconds.
Step 2: Use black nail gel to paint an upside French smile line and fill in the tip of each nail. Cure each in-between paintings.
Step 3: Gently, apply deep green nail color on top of the black to create an ombré effect.
Step 4: Add another black smile line border just below the initial line created for a bolder look. Cure each nail.
Step 5: Apply soft builder gel nail polish to each nail.
Step 6: Add a deep teal diamond applique just below the center of the bolder black smile line created in step four. Cure each nail.
Step 7: Apply a clear top gel to each nail, and make sure to avoid the diamond so it keeps its flash.
Step 8: Place all nails, one hand at a time, under UV LED gel light to set and finish.
