Disney debuts designer mouse ears and we are 'ear' for it!
Disney's Main Street is about to get a lot more fashionable.
A group of celebrities, designers and artists have teamed up with Disney to create a limited-edition headwear collection featuring legendary characters: Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Many of the designs were inspired by their fan-favorite characters and park attractions.
Heidi Klum, Betsey Johnson, Vera Wang and The Blonds are just some of the names set to debut their custom ear designs for the collection.
"GMA" got a first-hand look at the chic collaborations and can't wait to share the details with you. A new design will be released each month. Here's a sneak peek at the Disney Parks Designer Collection.
Coming this summer
HARVEYS
These patriotic ears are the first of the designer collection to debut. The headband went on sale May 24.
HARVEYS' headband, wrapped in red ribbon, pairs nicely with Minnie and Mickey's red, white and blue attire, which is featured on the bow of the headband. The blue ears are spangled with white stars to complete the look of the American flag.
"Because we make our handbags in the USA right down the street from Disneyland, doing patriotic themed ears with our favorite mouse was a perfect match," HARVEYS told "Good Morning America."
Fun fact -- the company has been family run for two decades in Southern California.
Betsey Johnson
Known for her feminine, edgy designs, Betsey Johnson has created a whimsical pair of Minnie Mouse ears.
Her headband features sparkly, pink-puffed ears that have a black sequin bow with white polka dots on it. The black satin band gives it a sleek look.
Betsey Johnson's Minnie ears will be available to purchase this summer.
SHAG
Josh Agle, also known as SHAG, is an illustrator whose artwork has been featured internationally.
SHAG's yellow Mickey Mouse ear hat models a modern-day take on the Enchanted Tiki Room, featuring colorful parrots on the front of the cap and totem pole characters displayed in the ears. The back side pictures a Hawaiian-inspired Mickey Mouse, garnished in a blue lei, saying: "See you in the Tiki Room!"
SHAG's Mickey hat is slated for a summer release.
Noah Fine Art
Artist Noah Elias transposed a classic Disney scene onto his pair of black and grey Mickey Mouse ears, titled "Full Steam Ahead."
The front of the cap features early-day Mickey driving a steamboat, alongside a rendition of Walt Disney himself. The back includes Walt's famous quote: "It was all started by a mouse."
"I couldn't be more excited to share what has been in the works for such a long time," Noah wrote in a post on Instagram. "I'm honored to be in the mix with some amazing talented artist friends. Stay tooned!!"
You'll be able to snag a pair this summer.
Coming this fall
‘Hipster’ Mickey ears
Illustrator Jerrod Maruyama's "Hipster Mickey" was originally created as an art piece for Disney's WonderGround Gallery, and was later transformed into an ear hat for the designer collection.
The detail of the cap is quite eye-catching as it's topped with a pair of brown life-size reading glasses along with a blush beanie. One detail you won't miss: Mickey's squeezable, plush nose.
"This was my attempt to adapt that popular Mickey to a set of ears," Maruyama told "Good Morning America." "They did a nice job translating the flat art to a dimensional hat."
Maruyama's Mickey Mouse ear hat will roll out in the fall.
Heidi Klum
Get ready to sparkle, shimmer and shine while wearing supermodel Heidi Klum's Minnie Mouse ear headband.
Dripping in crystals and ruby red accents, you'll look like a queen as you stroll down Main Street.
“Bedazzling the most famous ears in the world is like a dream come true for me. I am still pinching myself," Klum said. “To all Mickey and Minnie fans – I hope you love wearing them as much as I do.”
Her Minnie ears will be available for purchase in the fall.
COACH
Look no further than COACH if you're searching for a more subtle, yet refined pair of ears.
The popular designer's floral, genuine leather headband will be easily paired with most outfits, given the black base color. Pops of yellow, purple and blue make their way into the buds of each flower, which are located on the ears.
COACH's headband will be sold in the fall.
Spring and beyond
Vera Wang
Wedding dress designer Vera Wang has expanded her portfolio into the world of Disney by creating her own take on a Minnie Mouse ear headband.
Wang's collaboration features hand sewn pearl and crystal embroidery, along with silk and tulle fabrics that she regularly uses on her famous gowns. The materials "bring a sense of authenticity and beauty" to the headpiece, according to the designer.
"To brides and collectors alike, this is a special item to treasure and celebrate," Wang said.
The bridal-inspired headband will be available to the public in the spring of 2020.
Other designers
In true Disney fashion, some images of the collection will remain a secret for the time being, even to us. But we can tell you additional collaborators include ALEX AND ANI, Her Universe, The Blonds, Cupcakes and Cashmere, and Karlie Kloss -- just to name a few.
The iconic headwear, retailing upwards of $600, will be released monthly at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. If you can't make it to one of the parks, don't fret, you can stay on trend by purchasing a pair of ears online.
Disney is the parent company of ABC News and “Good Morning America.”
