'Jason Bourne': Everything We've Learned From Official Trailer
— -- "Jason Bourne" is back and the official trailer dropped late Wednesday night.
This "Bourne" is really the first canon movie that deviates completely from the Robert Ludlum books; it's based off former NSA contractor Edward Snowden and the privacy debate.
But the new clip brings the same old great action we've come to expect from Matt Damon, 45, in the role he's played for 15 years.
Here's a breakdown of the clip:
He Looks Lost
The clip opens with a voice-over "I know who I am." Sure, he remembers everything, but he's turned in those who turned him into Jason Bourne and his love is gone. So, what is there to do when you are the perfect weapon and you no longer work for the government? In the opening, he's lying in a dirty hotel room and looks completely unsure of how to proceed.
Nicky Will Help Him?
"Remembering everything doesn't mean you know everything," Julia Stiles says as the character who definitely had a fling with Bourne.
So cryptic, yet so exciting, what doesn't he know?
Hacking and Snowden
"We've just been hacked. It could be worse than Snowden." An allusion to Snowden, we assume.
Alicia Vikander
The Oscar winner is definitely a serious agent. She's seen assisting an opp and is basically Nicky 2.0.
"What if he's not coming for us, what if it's something else?" she asks. Well, it's pretty safe to say, Bourne is coming for everything this time. Until the next film that is.
A Lie
Bourne, maybe through the hack, volunteered for the program because "of a lie." This may be what gets him back into action. Also, who is the hacker? Most likely someone on the inside, right?
Tommy Lee Jones' Robert Dewey
Jones' role plays a devout patriot. But he's not like Chris Cooper or Brian Cox before him. Maybe he is here to help Bourne.
"People are safer because of what you did," he tells Bourne.
"Jason Bourne" hit theaters July 29.
