Instagram Layout App Makes Easy Photo Collages

The photo sharing app announced today it is launching "Layout," an app that makes it easy to create fun photo collages in Instagram.

Available for iOS today and Android in the coming months, Layout lets smartphone photographers arrange their photos into a collage.

Unlike other third-party apps that have been filling the void, Layout lets users move beyond a cookie cutter template by pinching to zoom photos, stretching the sides of an image and by flipping and rotating images.

A "faces" option makes it easy to find all of the photos in a camera roll that feature people. A photo booth feature lets users take spontaneous snaps that will be laid into a ready-made collage.

Layout is the second offshoot app the Facebook-owned Instagram has released. The first, called Hyperlapse, lets users take time-lapse videos that can easily be posted to their photo stream or saved to their camera rolls.
