Cardi B facing 3 misdemeanor charges for role in fight at New York City strip club
Cardi B turned herself in to New York City police on Monday in connection with an assault on two bartenders in Queens, police said.
The rap star is one of 10 people accused of throwing bottles and chairs during the Aug. 29 melee at Angels, a strip club in Flushing, a police source told ABC News.
She's the only person so far who's been charged, said police, who added that they're interested in speaking with the other nine suspects.
Cardi B has been charged with one count of misdemeanor assault for striking a bartender, causing a laceration to that person's foot and bruising the individual's legs. She's also been charged with two counts of misdemeanor reckless endangerment for throwing items at the bartenders.
Police said they're investigating whether one of the bartenders was having an affair with her husband, Offset, whose band is known to play at the club.
Joe Tacopina, an attorney for the bartenders, said in a statement:
"Cardi B ordered and committed violent assaults against my clients, and is being called to justice for her crimes. Apparently, she thinks her celebrity status puts her above the law, since she has bragged to multiple people and on social media that she orchestrated these vicious attacks. But reality is setting in, as justice does not care whether her name is Cardi B or Carly B, and she will now answer for her crimes."
