Man dressed as Spider-Man caught on camera helping stranger cross street
A young man in Arkansas has gone viral after he was caught on camera helping a stranger in a wheelchair cross the street.
Christopher Hellenthal, who was dressed as Spider-Man, was caught on camera helping another man in a wheelchair cross the street earlier this week.
The Jonesboro Police Department in Arkansas shared traffic camera footage of the incident, which shows Hellenthal jump out of a red vehicle and rush to the aid of a wheelchair user who had started to cross in the intersection.
Hellenthal said he was dressed as the web-slinging superhero on his way to work at a trampoline park where he portrays the character and entertains kids. When he noticed who was at the intersection, he said he didn't hesitate to help.
"Anyone could wear the mask, and I know Aunt May, she said, 'There's a hero in all of us,'" Hellenthal told ABC News, referring to the fictional aunt of Spider-Man's alter-ego Peter Parker.
"I've always loved Spider-Man," Hellenthal continued. "Going to school, just trying to balance everything out, and he doesn't do that, but he still stays strong, and so that always just inspired me to just be like Peter Parker, be like Spider-Man, just be what he represents the best way that I can."
Jonesboro Police also shared their gratitude for Hellenthal, writing in part in a Facebook post caption, "Thank you, sir, for helping this gentleman reach his destination safely. Whether it's a red light or green light, there is always time to do what's right!"
