17-year-old is wowing the internet with her 'artistic swimming'
As if TikTok dances weren't hard enough, a 17-year-old swimmer from Slovakia is blowing everyone away with her incredible underwater routines.
Silvia Solymosyová has gone viral on social media for her "artistic swimming."
The videos, which show off her athleticism and grace, have helped Solymosyová earn over 900,000 followers and 22 million likes on TikTok.
The dance student first gained attention on social media for her gravity-defying twists on songs like Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me" and giving tips on how to master some of her underwater skills, like how to stretch for splits.
In an interview with “Good Morning America,” Solymosyová said she has been practicing artistic, or synchronized, swimming since she was 5 years old.
From dancing to running to even burpees, she makes every underwater move look effortless. The 17-year-old cautioned, however, that it's a lot harder than it looks.
“Some dances are really hard because I need to blow out all of my air," Solymosyová said.
The teenager is an artistic swimmer on Slovakia's National Team and has competed internationally in countries like Hungary and Korea.
When she's not finding viral fame in the pool, you can probably find Solymosyová in a dance studio. She is also a seventh-year dance student at a conservatory in her home country.
Solymosyová said “it means a lot” that people are watching her videos on TikTok.
“Some people say that [my videos] have inspired them to try artistic swimming,” she said.
