Nina Dobrev and more celebrate 10 years of 'The Vampire Diaries'
"The Vampire Diaries" turned 10 on Tuesday!
Fans of hit CW drama were granted a healthy dose of nostalgia when the stars of the show shared some throwbacks celebrating the anniversary.
Nina Dobrev, who played Elena Gilbert on the vampire drama from 2009 to 2017, shared some of her favorite memories on Instagram.
"Love bites, but so does finding out it's been a decade since the show aired," she wrote in an Instagram story. "Thank you to all of our incredible fans who followed us along this journey and continue to follow us on our new adventures and beyond."
"Gratitude and love to each and every one of you," she added. "It's bittersweet."
On another post Dobrev shared, her former co-star Paul Wesley, who played Stefan Salvatore on the show, commented, "Why have I never seen this photo and why are we sitting in scattered debris/ what's up with Ian's pose."
At a recent convention celebrating the show's 10-year anniversary, Ian Somerhalder, who played Damon Salvatore, discussed the impact of the show on his personal life.
"'Stelena' was better for my life," Somerhalder told the crowd, referencing Wesley and Dobrev's characters' on-screen relationship nickname. "Because 'Delena' fans got really mean to me and my wife and my family and stuff."
"Delena fans were actually really problematic," he continued. "It just got really weird for a little while ... so I love 'Stelena.' It is easier for my life, and I got to see Paul shirtless all the time 'cause he and Elena were always making out and stuff."
However, he still seems to have plenty of love for the show, recently telling TV Guide, about his co-stars, "You were dialed into a family, a group of people that you sort of have to stick with."
Candice King, who played Caroline Forbes, also penned a lengthy tribute to the show on the anniversary date.
"As a cast, crew, and production we were lucky to spend 8 years together making a show so many people loved and continue to love and watch today," she wrote.
"My thumbs might fall off trying to type out how much playing Caroline Forbes meant to me ... SERIOUSLY!" she added.
