Priyanka Chopra Jonas' new restaurant SONA offers 'timeless Indian in the heart of NYC'
SONA, a modern French brasserie with an Indian influence from Priyanka Chopra Jonas, is set to open its doors in New York City later this month.
The actress, 38, shared some images of the sleek New York City spot on Instagram, writing, "I'm thrilled to present to you SONA, a new restaurant in NYC that I poured my love for Indian food into."
She called the new restaurant "the very embodiment of timeless India and the flavours I grew up with."
The kitchen will be helmed by chef, restaurateur and author Hari Nayak, who has restaurants and consulting businesses around the globe.
Chopra called Nayak "a masterful talent, who has created the most delicious and innovative menu, taking you on a food journey through my amazing country."
She also hailed leadership from Maneesh Goyal and David Rabin, as well as designer Melissa Bowers, who have all helped get SONA ready to open.
Two of the three photos in the post were from September 2019.
"When we performed a small intimate Puja (prayer ceremony) to bless the space that would soon become Sona New York," the actress wrote.
According to the restaurant's website, SONA is "a refined, modern interpretation of a classic neighborhood French brasserie, the restaurant is designed to appeal to a distinctly urban-American sensibility, with an understated aesthetic that celebrates and pays homage to the Indian subcontinent’s rich cultural heritage."
The restaurant, located on East 20th Street just off Park Avenue, is in good company. Danny Meyer's iconic spot, Gramercy Tavern, is close by.
