How to make chef George Duran's homemade pretzels with 2 different dipping sauces
Want a fast, comforting snack for fall? Look no further, because these air fryer pretzels can be served sweet or savory to please any palate.
Celebrity chef and entertainer George Duran shared his recipes with "Good Morning America" for an easy-to-whip-up snack in honor of Oktoberfest.
Even though the annual multi-day festival in Germany was cancelled this year due to the pandemic, you can celebrate at home with these simple steps and a hack using store-bought pizza dough!
Easy Air Fryer Pretzels
Serves 4 to 6
Ingredients
1 lb. Store-bought pizza dough, room temperature
Flour for dusting
1/4 cup baking soda
1/4 cup brown sugar
5 cups water
Coarse salt
Non-stick spray
Directions
Mix water, baking soda and brown sugar in a wide skillet or frying pan and bring to a simmer.
Make sure your dough is at room temperature and knead in some flour until the dough is not too sticky. Roll dough into long strings and twist them into your desired shape. You can also make pretzel bites by cutting them with a knife.
Spray the bottom of your air fryer with non-stick spray.
Working quickly, place pretzels into the simmering water and simmer for 30-45 seconds, no more. Remove and place inside your air fryer and sprinkle with coarse salt.
Working in batches, air fry at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes, depending on the sizes of your pretzels.
Serve with mustard, cheese sauce or Nutella.
