All is calm and bright inside the neonatal intensive care unit at one South Carolina hospital as its tiny residents prepare for Christmas.
For the preemies and their families who are spending the holidays in the NICU, staff of the HCA Healthcare's Summerville Medical Center are going above and beyond to make this season as special as possible.
More than 120 nurses of the women’s services and maternal fetal medicine clinic team have decorated stockings that will be given to the babies.
According to HCA Healthcare, approximately 224,000 babies are born at its facilities each year.
Each "My First Christmas" stocking is designed around Christmas songs like "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" and "Feliz Navidad." The nurses also created personalized tags with a message on each stocking.
HCA Healthcare snapped adorable photos of the infants with each scene matching the theme of a particular Christmas carol.
