Family waits hours outside hospital before snapping sweet photo of baby boy
A group of grandparents who patiently waited to get a glimpse of their newborn grandson has captured a precious photo of dad and baby through their hospital room window.
Christi and Charlie Edwards snapped the picture on April 22 after their second grandchild, Tucker Thomas Edwards, was born.
"This was something that in the middle of all this chaos turned out to be absolutely beautiful," Christi Edwards of Eclectic, Alabama, told "Good Morning America." "It was perfect for us. We're never going to forget this."
Amid the pandemic, Tucker's parents, Emily Yates and Tommy Edwards, missed out on a baby shower and hospital visitors.
So Tommy's parents, Emily's mom Scarlett Nettles, and Emily's best friend, Abbie, stood in the parking lot for support.
"It was definitely different but we couldn't be happier about it," Tommy Edwards said of the opportunity to share his newborn with the family outside. "It was so dark and I couldn't see them, but I was so happy and was smiling like crazy. My first child was here so I was ecstatic."
Tucker arrived weighing 7 pounds, 3 ounces.
His extended family is looking forward to the day when it's safe to hold him.
