Tim Tebow talks wedding planning: 'I just mostly say Yes, babe.'
Tim Tebow and his fiance Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters are in the "final stretch" before their wedding and are gearing up for the big "I do."
"Wedding planning has been great. It’s been so much fun planning the day and seeing it all come together," Tebow told "GMA." "We have some really unique moments that will be a part of it. But honestly, I just mostly say ‘Yes, babe.'"
Listening to the bride-to-be may be a smart idea for any husband, including Tebow, who posted an outtake while shopping for a wedding outfit where he's wearing just a tuxedo vest and no dress shirt.
The former NFL player proposed to the South African model in January 2019. Nel-Peters shared a series of photos from the dreamy proposal on Instagram, writing, “Any dreams I’ve ever had, you’ve exceeded them all! I love you and I can’t wait to spend forever with you! @timtebow 💍❤️”
Tebow, who is a spokesperson for The Knot Registry, opened up about their wedding planning process and shared some of the couple's must-haves on their registry. Their registry includes many home and kitchen products like an open fire grill, fine china, and an espresso coffee machine since they love to entertain.
"One thing Demi and I like to do is host people," he said. "Family, friends, team members ... so even though we had a few must-haves, we really wanted a bunch of products for cooking and entertaining."
Demi-Leigh said in a statement she registered for a "charcoal grill, cutting boards and upgraded kitchen tools" to make one of her family's favorite recipes.
"One of my all-time favorite dishes my dad makes is oxtail with vegetables,“ she said. “Tim got to try it for the first time last Christmas and was instantly sold, which is why we’ve registered for things like a charcoal grill, cutting boards and upgraded kitchen tools.”
In addition to traditional home essentials for newlyweds, Tebow said the couple also created a honeymoon fund and a charity fund through the platform, so guests can donate to his charitable foundation, the Tim Tebow Foundation, instead of a traditional wedding gift.
"Something we really believe in is using any opportunity you have to help fight for people who can’t fight for themselves. It’s been my life mission since I was five years old. So when we started doing the planning, incorporating an option for our guests to donate to the Tim Tebow Foundation in lieu of a traditional gift was a non-negotiable for both of us," he said.
As they prep for the big day, including first dance practice, Tebow said the couple is most looking forward to having their loved ones by their sides.
"The most important part of the wedding to us is that our closest family and friends have the best time celebrating as we embark on our next chapter together," he said. "We are so fortunate to have so many people coming to the ceremony and reception.”
