Smokey Robinson and more to be inducted into Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame
The inductees for the 2022 Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame awards have been announced.
Motown founder Berry Gordy Jr., Smokey Robinson, the late Cicely Tyson and the late Ray Charles will be inducted into the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame on Feb. 17, 2022, in Atlanta.
Several other notable artists, including Mary J. Blige, Prince, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Snoop Dogg, New Edition, Lionel Richie and TLC, will also be honored at the ceremony, which is a joint initiative by the Black American Music Association and the Georgia Entertainment Caucus.
Tyler Perry will be recognized as "mainstream mogul" at the ceremony.
Gospel artists BeBe and CeCe Winans, Yolanda Adams and Donald Lawrence will be recognized as well.
The first inductees into the Walk of Fame, which is located in front of Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, were unveiled on June 17 when the walk of fame opened.
That list featured Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Beyoncé, Quincy Jones, James Brown, Diddy, Usher and Kirk Franklin.
