Sarah Drew teases April's 'delightful and juicy' return to 'Grey's Anatomy'
The upcoming May 6 episode of "Grey's Anatomy" with mark the reunion of Sarah Drew and Jesse Williams' respective characters, April and Jackson, and Drew recently offered a hint of what to expect from the "delightful and juicy" episode.
Drew, whose character was introduced during the long-running ABC medical drama's sixth season, left at the end of season 14. At the time, April had just married Matthew Taylor -- played by Justin Bruening -- while co-parenting her daughter Harriet, whom she shares with Jackson.
The story picks up with April still living nearby in Seattle with Matthew and Harriet, Drew told Entertainment Tonight. What she doesn't reveal is why Jackson impulsively decides to pay April a visit.
"I can't reveal anything about the reason he's coming to talk to her, but I think it's important to realize that nothing changed in their interaction of co-parenting this child," she explained. "They've seen one another."
As to whether April and Jackson will find closure during the episode, Drew said, "These two characters having had such a long time to develop a story, you have so much information to draw on from so many years that were on screen."
"There's so many layers that you can play together when you have that kind of breadth of time that you've spent onscreen together," she added. "Shows don't last this long. You don't have that much material to draw from in most cases. So it makes the whole thing feel so much more human, and so much easier, and so much more delightful and juicy."
Drew also remained optimistic that she can return for more episodes down the line and said "it's just a matter of what works for the story."
