Priyanka Chopra Jonas shares ‘freak-out moment’ from her wedding
Priyanka Chopra Jonas is embracing married life!
The actress married singer Nick Jonas in an epic celebration in India at the Umaid Bhawan Palace, in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, last December.
The couple, who had both a western wedding ceremony and a traditional Indian wedding ceremony, also celebrated their nuptials with another reception in North Carolina, where Jonas' father grew up.
In an appearance on "Good Morning America" on Wednesday, Chopra Jonas opened up about the exciting time in her life and her many wedding celebrations.
"I wanted our wedding to be a very intimate affair," she said. "We had just about 200 people, which is very less for an Indian wedding – that's usually like 1,000 people."
One moment from her big day stuck out to her.
"Right before I was supposed to walk down the aisle -- I remember them putting the veil on me. The veil was like 75 feet -- I was like, 'I’m going to strain my neck muscles like the mother of dragons,'" she said.
"But I had a freak-out moment when I was standing right behind the curtains and they were going to tell me when to walk out and the music was going to start playing," she continued. "I just started having a panic attack and then the doors opened and I saw him. And I cannot forget that moment."
Chopra Jonas also explained why the pair had so many events to celebrate their union.
"In India you have so many people," she said. "My mother was like, ‘How can I not invite like my jeweler to the wedding?’ And I was like ‘Mom, we’re trying to keep it small!’”
"So we had to do a bunch of receptions for everyone and family and friends," she added. "I was just wedding-ed out by the last one."
She also revealed married life is different.
"There's a big difference between a husband and a fiancé," she said. "I didn't understand the gravity of that when I got married. But it’s a good thing to be married to a good husband.”
She's now busy promoting her upcoming film, "Isn't It Romantic," with co-stars Rebel Wilson, Liam Hemsworth and Adam Devine.
In the film, Wilson's character gets injured and hits her head. She wakes up to discover she's living in a real-life romantic comedy.
"She wakes up in an alternate universe where all the clichés of romantic comedies come alive -- so New York smells amazing, there are flowers everywhere," Chopra Jonas explained.
If she had to wake up in her own romantic comedy, Chopra Jonas said she would choose the 1996 drama "Jerry Maguire."
"I love 'Jerry Maguire.' My favorite, favorite rom-com,” she said. “I’d want to wake up as Jerry, instead of Renee’s character. As much as I loved the character, now I look back and I’m like ‘he had all the fun! Why should boys have all the fun?’”
"GMA" gave Chopra Jonas a special treat to celebrate her wedding -- a crockpot! Check out her reaction:
"Isn't It Romantic" is in theaters Feb. 13.
