Miranda Lambert rescues 1-month-old kitten abandoned on side of Texas highway
Miranda Lambert is being hailed a hero for braving a Texas highway in order to save an abandoned kitten that wandered onto the dangerous road.
The "Mama's Broken Heart" singer showed off her little rescue on Sunday, an adorable blue eyed white and orange kitten that has a slightly scarred nose.
"Two lane highway in Texas, speed limit 70. Brendan slows down and does a U-turn," Lambert explained in a tweet. Upon asking husband Brendan McLoughlin why he made the sudden turn, he promptly replied, "There's a kitten in the road and I knew you would kill me if I saw it and didn't stop."
Lambert, who co-founded the animal rescue MuttNation Foundation, then shared, "Well I guess the rescue ways are rubbing off on him."
In a subsequent tweet, the 36-year-old further doted on the kitten, which she excitedly introduced to her parents.
"We stopped at mom and dads on the way home. Dad has a new bestie," Lambert wrote alongside a snap of the tiny kitten snuggled up and peacefully napping on her father's chest.
She also revealed that the little feline was an exceptional passenger.
"This kitten rode 9 hours back to Nashville with us and 3 dogs and was such a champ," the "Tin Man" singer said.
Lambert also posted a photo of their new family member perched happily on McLoughlin's shoulder as he was driving the car. The couple mutually decided on the name, "Tequila the kitten."
The little feline is surprisingly young, as the two-time Grammy winner further noted, "He is 4-5 weeks old and weighs 14 Ounces."
