Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Call Off Engagement
Sept. 16, 2013 -- Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have called off their engagement, reps for each confirmed to ABC News. People magazine first broke the news today.
The announcement comes after months of speculation that there was trouble in the couple's relationship. However, in June, Cyrus, 20, scoffed at rumors that she and her "Hunger Games" star beau, 23, had split. "I'm wearing a ring, so..." she said on "Good Morning America."

The couple met in 2009 on the set of the film "The Last Song," and got engaged in the summer of 2012.
"Heaven is a place on earth," Cyrus tweeted afterward.

However, their bliss was short-lived, as both stars turned their attention to their burgeoning careers. (Hemsworth stars in the newly-released film "Paranoia," while Cyrus has been promoting her new album, Bangerz.)
"I'm not home with my boyfriend all the time. We work. Every week it's, 'Are they broken up? Because we don't see a photo of them,'" she said earlier this year. "I don't have time go to Starbucks with my boyfriend every morning. I wish I did, but I don't."
