Maddie & Tae singer Taylor Dye's baby girl arrives early
Country singer Taylor Dye is a mom.
Dye, one-half of the duo Maddie & Tae, announced the birth of her and husband Josh Kerr's first child, a daughter named Leighton Grace, who was born early, on Thursday.
"She's beautiful, strong and everything we have ever dreamed of," she wrote on Instagram. "She decided to be a Capricorn like her daddy. Already can't wait for the day we get to finally take her home."
The "Girl in a Country Song" singer also shared a few pictures Leighton. Though her face doesn’t make an appearance, fans can see her tiny foot and hand in separate shots.
Two photos show Leighton in her isolette, one with her parents looking at her and the other showing more information about her arrival, such as the fact that she was born Jan. 17 and weighed just 2 pounds and 5 ounces at birth.
When announcing her pregnancy, Dye said her due date was in spring 2022, but the universe had other plans. She was hospitalized in mid-December, 24 weeks into her pregnancy, and remained on bedrest until Leighton was born.
Dye's pregnancy complications caused Maddie & Tae to postpone their 2022 tour plans. However, there’s no shortage of new music from the duo. Their next EP, "Through the Madness, Vol. 1," arrives Jan. 28.
