Katy Perry says Orlando Bloom's proposal went hilariously wrong
Katy Perry opened up about her engagement to actor Orlando Bloom during an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Monday.
She said that Bloom did "so well" with the proposal, which took place on Valentine's Day. But it didn't go off without a hitch.
"We went to dinner, and I thought we were going to go and see some art after dinner, but we pulled up to a helicopter," she told Kimmel.
"It was really sweet. He asked me to marry him in a helicopter," she continued. "The funny part is -- we had champagne, and the box was in his pocket and he had written down everything he'd wanted to say in a note."
She said that as she was reading the note, she noticed Bloom was struggling.
"So I'm reading it, but I'm hearing like the champagne is broken, the bottle's everywhere, and I'm still looking at the note because he's pulling at this box that's too big for his coat pocket and rips his coat pocket, and his elbow goes into the champagne," she said, "And I'm like, 'No, I'm just reading the note. I know you're not doing anything.'"
After he finally popped the question, she had another great surprise waiting for her when the helicopter landed. "My whole family was there and all my friends," she said.
Perry also told the story of how the two met.
"We bonded over an In-N-Out burger about three years ago at the Golden Globes," she said. "He stole one off of my table."
"I was sitting with Denzel Washington and he took it and I was like, 'Wait! Who? Oh, wow, you're so hot. Fine, take it,'" she continued.
"Then I saw him at a party and was like, 'How are those onions resting on your molars?'" she added, with a laugh.
"He was like, 'I like you,' and then, you know, cut to…" she said, flashing her diamond.
