John Legend recalls adorable story of how he met and fell in love with Chrissy Teigen
John Legend turned the story of how he met and fell in love with wife Chrissy Teigen into an adorable animated cartoon.
To mark Valentine's Day, the "Wild" singer narrated a four-minute video that walked fans through the story of their legendary romance -- pun intended.
Legend says "it all started in 2006" when he partnered with aspiring video director Nabil Elderkin to shoot the music video for "Stereo" off his sophomore studio album, "Once Again."
Elderkin then laid out the concept, telling Legend, "It's just you and this girl flirting, dancing" and suggested they hire Teigen -- who had just worked with Elderkin in a Billabong campaign.
"We had chemistry on the video shoot. We hung out that night. We stayed in touch over text and over the phone ... we'd meet up whenever I came to LA," said Legend, saying he swooned over Teigen's humor and enjoyed receiving her text messages.
"I would text her and she would just write me the funniest replies and she would always make me laugh, always make me smile," the multi-Grammy winner gushed. "And, every time that I was away from her ... I started to miss her."
Legend said they further fell in love during a "the most perfect trip" to Villa d'Este in Italy's Lake Como, saying, "As we were saying goodbye at the airport, I knew I had fallen in love with Chrissy Teigen."
Things came full circle when Legend tapped Elderkin to shoot the "All of Me" music video at Lake Como, the same spot they'd exchange their wedding vows.
"Our love story started with flirtation, conversations in the dark, and blossomed into a marriage and two beautiful kids," said Legend.
The two wed in 2013 and share children Luna, 4, and Miles, 2.
