"Jeopardy!" champion Jamie Ding has a tried-and-true technique for buzzing in before other contestants on the game show and he's not gate-keeping it.

"They tell you to watch for the lights next to the board and then buzz in, but I buzz in based on the sound of [host Ken Jennings'] voice, try to time it that way," Ding revealed in an interview that aired on “Good Morning America” Friday.

Ding, a 30-game “Jeopardy!” champion, said he's discussed his strategy with other contestants backstage, an example of the reputation he has built as one of the nicest contestants to ever play the long-running game show.

Ding won his 30th game on Thursday night's episode, one he described on "GMA" as "a fantastic game."

"We all played well, Patrick [Nolan], Leighanna [Mixter], me, and, I mean, we have two five-figure true Daily Doubles that paid off. I mean, I was nervous watching it, and I knew the outcome," said Ding.

Ding took home $56,001 after the episode wrapped, while Nolan came in second with $18,000 and Mixter in third place with $10,400.

Ding's total winnings after 30 victories is now $849,603, earning him the No. 5 spot in the list of players to win the most consecutive games, according to a chart shared on Facebook by the game show.

Even though he came out on top, Ding said he didn't truly think he would make it this far.

"Nobody goes in planning to win 30 games," Ding said. "Only a complete egomaniac would do that. I mean, I thought, like, I entertained the possibility. It's nice to dream big but that it's actually happened is, it's amazing. It's wonderful."
