"But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida -- forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive," the description continues.

Along with the standard version of game, "Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition" was also made available at midnight. It includes additional in-game items.

The new release follows over a decade of anticipation since the 2013 release of "Grand Theft Auto V," which has sold 230 million copies, according to franchise owner Take-Two Interactive.

The new game is set to be sold for $79.99, bucking the general new game standard by around $10.
