Emma Watson breaks social media silence to dispel rumors she's engaged
Emma Watson broke a longstanding social media silence to dismiss reports that she and boyfriend Leo Robinton are engaged.
The "Harry Potter" alum hadn't tweeted since Aug. 27.
"Dear Fans, Rumours about whether I'm engaged or not, or whether my career is 'dormant or not' are ways to create clicks each time they are revealed to be true or untrue," Watson tweeted on Monday in a four-part explanation.
The 31-year-old "Beauty and the Beast" star posted another response, where she promised, "If I have news - I promise I'll share it with you."
Watson also expressed that fans need not be concerned about her radio silence, writing later: "In the mean time please assume no news from me just means I'm quietly spending the pandemic the way most people are - failing to make sourdough bread (!), caring for my loved ones and doing my best not to spread a virus that is still affecting so many people."
"I am sending so much love to you, hoping you're ok and as well and happy as you can be in these strange times," she wrote in her final update. "And again, thank you to everyone working so hard to keep us safe and well."
Watson largely disappeared from social media since last summer but has not said why. Her Instagram account, which she stopped posting to last June, "Is currently dormant and is not being updated," according to her listed bio.
