Chuck Norris remembered by his 'Expendables' co-stars and more after his death at 86
Tributes are pouring in for Chuck Norris.
The actor and martial artist, known for starring in the iconic TV series "Walker, Texas Ranger" and films like "The Delta Force" and "The Expendables 2," died Thursday morning. He was 86.
On Friday, many across Hollywood and beyond paid tribute to Norris on social media and shared memories of him, including his "Expendables 2" co-stars, Sylvester Stallone and Jean-Claude Van Damme.
In his post, Stallone shared a photo with Norris on the set of the 2012 action film and captioned the post, "I had a great time working with Chuck. He was All American in every way. Great man and my condolences to his wonderful family."
Van Damme added in his post, in which he shared photos with Norris over the years, "Deepest condolences on the passing of my friend, Chuck Norris. We knew each other from my early days, and I always respected the man he was. My heart and prayers are with his family. He will never be forgotten. 🥋🙏🏼💔"
"Expendables 2" actor Dolph Lundgren also took to Instagram and shared a photo with Norris. In the caption of the post, he wrote, "Chuck Norris is the champ. Ever since I was a young martial artist and later getting into movies, I always looked up to him as a role model. Someone who had the respect, humility and strength it takes to be a man. We will miss you, my friend. ✨"
Norris was best known for his role as Cordell Walker in the television series, "Walker, Texas Ranger," which aired for nine seasons from 1993 to 2001.
Several stars including Guy Fieri and Piers Morgan shared photos of Norris in the action series on social media.
"RIP to the legend Chuck Norris," Fieri wrote on X. "My all time favorite Good guys wear black"
Author Stephen King also too to X and wrote, "Seriously, I thought he was great. SILENT RAGE scared hell out of my boys...and me."
Actress and mixed martial artist Gina Carano added in a separate post on X, "Rest in peace to a great man, there will never be anyone like him. Chuck Norris. 💔"
Outside of film and television, Norris was a father of five.
He shared sons Mike Norris, 63, and Eric Norris, 60, with ex-wife Diane Holechek. He also shares twins Dakota Alan Norris, 24, and Danilee Kelly Norris, 24, with wife Gena O'Kelley. Norris and O'Kelley married in 1998.
In 2004, Norris told "Entertainment Tonight" that he learned that he had another daughter named Dina Norris DiCiolli.
At the time, Norris said that he received a letter from DiCiolli, who was born in 1964. She had reached out to Norris when she was 26. Over the years, they became close.
On social media, Danilee Kelly Norris paid tribute to her dad with several photos and a moving note expressing her love.
"I don’t think grief is a good enough word to describe the emotions my family and I are going through right now.. losing a parent is something that you are never prepared for," she began.
"I wanted to dedicate this post to my sweet father and acknowledge the amazing man he is. My dad was my protector the moment I was born and as soon as he took me in his arms, I’ve been his little girl," she continued.
Danilee Kelly Norris went on, "My dad loved so deeply and cared for every single person in his life with so much tenderness. He may have a warrior exterior, but his heart was so full of love and I’m so grateful that is something he and my mom passed down to me. To say how thankful I am for him being my dad is an understatement."
She ended her message by writing, "Thank you for your constant compassion and for loving me so much that it’s made me learn to love myself. I promise I will always and forever try to make you proud even if you already reminded me every day that it was impossible not to. I love you forever."
