Celine Dion cancels remaining dates of Courage World Tour
Celine Dion has announced the cancellation of the remaining dates of her Courage World Tour in 2023 and 2024.
The news of the cancellation of the 42 shows scheduled in 2023 and 2024 was shared Friday to Dion's official accounts.
"Celine has continued to be treated for a diagnosed medical condition that prevents her from performing," a statement shared on Dion's official Instagram account said. "Celine is working hard on her recovery, but at this time is unable to successfully prepare for and perform the remainder of the tour."
Dion announced in December that she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder with features of other autoimmune diseases, according to The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, a division of the National Institutes of Health.
The tour was scheduled to run from August in Amsterdam through October in Helsinki, picking back up in March 2024 in Prague and running through April 2024 in London.
Dion also personally addressed her fans in Friday's statement, sharing her disappointment in canceling the shows.
"I'm so sorry to disappoint all of you once again. I'm working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you're 100%," she said in the statement.
"It's not fair to you to keep postponing the shows, and even though it breaks my heart, it's best that we cancel everything now until I'm really ready to be back on stage again," her statement continued. "I want you all to know, I'm not giving up ... and I can't wait to see you again!"
Tickets purchased for the canceled dates will be refunded via the original point of sale, according to Dion's statement.
Before the cancellation of the remaining tour dates was announced, Dion had initially rescheduled her spring 2023 shows for 2024 and canceled her summer 2023 shows. In her December announcement revealing her diagnosis of the rare neurological disorder, she also expressed how committed she is to her recovery.
"For me to reach you again, I have no choice but to concentrate on my health at this moment and I have hope that I'm on the road to recovery," she said. "This is my focus and I am doing everything that I can to recuperate."
