Caitlyn Jenner Crushes Record for Fastest Time to Reach 1 Million Twitter Followers
— -- Hours after unveiling herself to the world, Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce, shattered the Guinness World Record for fastest time to reach 1 million followers on Twitter, quickly surpassing super-user President Barack Obama.
"Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, has shattered the record for Fastest time to reach one million followers on Twitter, after her new verified account @Caitlyn_Jenner reached the figure in 4 hours and 3 minutes," Guinness Book of World Records confirmed in a statement.
In addition to Obama, Jenner has beaten Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and many other major celebrities.
The social media achievement occurs just two weeks after Obama’s new Twitter account @POTUS broke the previous record -- gaining one million followers in 4 hours and 52 minutes, on Monday, May 18.
Prior to Obama, the record was held by "Iron Man" star Robert Downey Jr., who reached 1 million followers in 23 hours and 22 minutes in April 2014.
Caitlyn Jenner revealed her identity today in photos that will appear in the July issue of Vanity Fair.
There have been 1.5 million tweets about her since the announcement went live.
