Brought to life thanks to a huge Kickstarter campaign, "Hair Love" follows a Black father as he learns how to do his daughter's hair for the first time. During his Academy Awards acceptance speech, Cherry, a former NFL player, said it was his goal to "normalize Black hair" with this project. He also said on "Good Morning America" he wanted to "showcase a strong Black family unit."
HBO Max announced over the summer it ordered an animated series created by Cherry called "Young Love." The series will "expand" on the family introduced in "Hair Love," and will be "filled with comedy and heart."
Having been in the spotlight since her birth in January 2012, just this year, Blue Ivy won a BET HER Award and an NAACP Image Award for her song "Brown Skin Girl," a collaboration with her mom.
She has also made appearances in her parents' musical projects. Perhaps most notably, her crying being featured on her dad's 2012 song "Glory," which was released two days after Carter's birth.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z are also parents to twins Rumi and Sir, born in June 2017.
