Blair Underwood and wife Desiree DaCosta divorcing after 27 years of marriage
Actor Blair Underwood and wife Desiree DaCosta announced Sunday via a joint statement on social media that they are divorcing after 27 years of marriage.
Underwood, 56, shared the news on Instagram. In their statement, the two announced, "After a tremendous amount of thought, prayer & work on ourselves individually & collectively, we have come to the conclusion to end our marriage that began 27 years ago."
"It's truly been a beautiful journey," they continued. "Our proudest achievements are our three incredible children. Three souls to which God entrusted us. We continue to be awed & humbled by the blessings of parenting. We have always put their best interests first & will continue to do so."
Underwood and DaCosta share daughter Brielle, who is 22, and sons Paris and Blake, who are 24 and 19, respectively.
The former couple concluded, "We will continue to be the best of friends and co-parents and have the utmost respect for one another as we embark upon this new chapter of our lives, separately."
Both have requested privacy at this time and thanked fans for their "support throughout the years."
Underwood, who first rose to fame and earned a Golden Globe nomination for starring as attorney Jonathan Rollins on "L.A. Law," married DaCosta in 1994. He is also known for roles on "Sex and the City" and "Quantico," among others.
