'Bachelor' stars Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham expecting twins after miscarriage
Former "Bachelor" stars Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham are expecting twins in July.
The couple, who met on season 22 of the ABC reality TV series and wed last year, made the announcement in a YouTube video, in which they documented Burnham's first visit to the doctor.
They first revealed they were expecting on Sunday.
"2 little miracles. Love them with all my heart already," Luyendyk Jr. wrote on Instagram on Monday.
In a reference to her earlier post about the pregnancy, Burnham added, "we maaaay have left out one small detail. @luyendyktwins."
Luyendyk Jr., 39, and Burnham, 29, welcomed their daughter, Alessi, in May 2019. About one year later, the couple revealed that Burnham had suffered a miscarriage. Miscarriage, a term often used to describe a pregnancy loss before 20 weeks of gestation, occurs in 10% of all clinically recognized pregnancies, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. However, that number is likely higher, as many women experience miscarriages before they confirm they're expecting.
“It’s been a roller coaster of emotions,” Luyendyk Jr. said in a YouTube video from that time. “It’s consumed our thoughts for the last month. It’s been hard holding this back from everybody."
“Hopefully the next time you see a video with the word pregnancy, it's positive, and it's good news,” he added. “We'll get through this.”
