Amy Schumer on New Book, Getting Goldie Hawn Out of Retirement
— -- The hilarious Amy Schumer is revealing it all in her new book, "The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo."
The comedian stopped by "Good Morning America" today to chat about her upcoming film and impressive number of Emmy nominations.
"I've been keeping journals from age 13 to 23 and so it was really kind of crazy to go back and read them," Schumer said of her book. "It was a little painful because it's embarrassing to read your thoughts as a teenager, but it was a total labor of love. I've been working on it for almost five years and I'm really proud of it. I can't believe it's out."
Schumer has also been busy on screen, recently wrapping up a new mother-daughter comedy co-starring Goldie Hawn.
Schumer said she convinced Hawn to film with her.
"I just kept annoying her," she said. "About two years ago, I ran into her on a plane and at the end of the flight I went over and I said, 'I love you and I'm a comedian, an actor and I really want to make this movie with you' and she's like, 'OK honey.' You know, she's so sweet. She'll talk to anyone for like two hours. We just kept running into each other at events...she's like, 'I haven't done a movie in 14 years.' and I'm like, 'This is the movie to do' and we just had the best time. She's amazing."
Schumer has received Emmy nominations for her HBO stand-up special as well as her show, "Inside Amy Schumer," which has been renewed for a fifth season.
"I have six [nominations] and I will not win any of them, I'm telling you," she joked. "I was so excited...that my HBO special was nominated. Chris Rock directed it, so proud. We were both so excited and then, I look at who else is nominated--Beyonce for 'Lemonade.' There's no way. I'm just going to go and have fun and I hope she goes and then we get to hear her make a speech, but you know, that's it. I'm excited I'm nominated."
Schumer's book, "The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo," is out today.
