Amy Poehler thanks boyfriend Joel Lovell after winning inaugural Golden Globe for best podcast
"Good Hang with Amy Poehler" became the first-ever best podcast winner at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night, with the comedian and "Saturday Night Live" alum beating out other A-list audio hosts in the inaugural category, including her ex-husband Will Arnett.
"I don't know about awards shows, but when they get it right, it makes sense," Poehler joked in her acceptance speech.
She then thanked Jenna Weiss-Berman, "the best podcast producer in the biz." Weiss-Berman serves as head of audio and podcasts for Paper Kite Productions, Poehler's production company, according to LinkedIn.
Poehler immediately followed with a shoutout to her boyfriend, who was most recently the executive editor at the now-defunct Pineapple Street Studios, which was founded by Weiss-Berman and shuttered last summer, per Variety.
"Thank you to Joel Lovell. I love you. Thank you for everything," Poehler said.
According to People, Poehler began dating the former New York Times Magazine deputy editor and former "This American Life" executive editor in the summer of 2024.
The pair made their official red carpet debut at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar party.
The other Golden Globe nominees in the best podcast category included "Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard," Alex Cooper's "Call Her Daddy," "The Mel Robbins Podcast," "Up First" from NPR, and "SmartLess," which is co-hosted by Arnett.
Poehler has appeared on "SmartLess" in the past as a guest.
Elsewhere in her acceptance speech Sunday night, Poehler acknowledged that she was "new to this game" but said she has "great respect for this form."
"I have great respect for all the people that I am nominated with," she said, before joking, "I am big fans of all of you, except for NPR. Just a bunch of celebs phoning it in. So, try harder."
Poehler, 54, added that "Good Hang" is "an attempt to try to make a very rough and unkind world filled with a little bit more love and laughter and laughing with people -- not at them."
Poehler finished with a shoutout to her two children, Archie and Abel, whom she shares with Arnett, and told her parents, "You can go watch the Patriots now."
