Aly & AJ to release highly anticipated 4th studio album after 14-year wait
Fans of pop duo Aly & AJ are celebrating because, after a 14-year drought, the "Potential Breakup Song" hit-makers are finally releasing their fourth studio album.
The group, composed of actresses Alyson and Amanda "AJ" Michalka, confirmed the news on Tuesday -- and also the really, really long title of their upcoming record.
The sisters tweeted the name of their new album, "A Touch of the Beat Gets You Up on Your Feet Gets You Out and Then Into the Sun," on Tuesday, revealing it will drop May 7.
The two chatted more about their new offering with People, with Aly explaining how weird it feels to be back in the studio after their lengthy hiatus.
"It feels like the first time in a weird way, like making a record for the first time," the "Phil of the Future" alum confessed. "In a bizarre way, it feels like a record that you make as an artist without all of the jaded aspects that come with being an act that has been around for 15-plus years.
"That's kind of the exciting part for us with this album is that we weren't writing this for anyone specifically, we weren't writing this for radio -- we wrote this for us, first and foremost, and our fans."
Besides teasing that their new studio effort will boast a more "magical," "timeless" and "classic" vibe, AJ smiled and said, "I'm just so proud of these songs."
Aly & AJ have three albums under their belt, 2005's "Into the Rush," 2006's "Acoustic Hearts of Winter" and 2007's "Insomniatic."
"A Touch of the Beat Gets You Up on Your Feet Gets You Out and Then Into the Sun" can be pre-saved now on their official website.
