Alec and Hilaria Baldwin welcome a baby boy after 2 miscarriages
Alec and Hilaria Baldwin welcomed their fifth child on Tuesday night.
Hilaria Baldwin. who suffered two miscarriages in 2019, announced the birth of the couple's fourth son on Instagram Wednesday.
Along with a family photo, Hilaria Baldwin shared that the baby is "perfect."
"We couldn't be happier," she added in a caption. "Stay tuned for a name."
Hilaria Baldwin, 36, announced in April that she and her actor-husband, 62, were expecting a baby several months after a heartbreaking loss. Last November the fitness trainer revealed she'd had a miscarriage four months into her pregnancy with a baby girl. It was her second pregnancy loss that year.
“We are very sad to share that today we learned that our baby passed away at 4 months. We also want you to know that even though we are not ok right now, we will be,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “We are so lucky with our 4 healthy babies — and we will never lose sight of this."
Miscarriage -- defined as the loss of a pregnancy -- is a common occurrence, though it most frequently occurs during the first trimester. For women who know they're pregnant, about 10 to 20 out of 100 will experience a first trimester loss, according to the Mayo Clinic. That number is likely considerably higher, as many women miscarry before they realize that they're expecting.
In addition to their new son, the Baldwins, who married in 2012, are parents to Carmen, 7, Rafael, 5, Leonardo, 3, and Romeo, 2. Alec Baldwin also has a 24-year-old daughter, Ireland, from his marriage to actress Kim Basinger.
