Jamie Lee Curtis showed admiration for fellow actress and activist Pamela Anderson in a spirited Instagram post over the weekend.
"THE NATURAL BEAUTY REVOLUTION HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN!" Curtis captioned her Sunday post. "@pamelaanderson in the middle of fashion week with so many pressures and postures, and and and, this woman showed up and claimed her seat at the table with nothing on her face. I am so impressed and floored by this act of courage and rebellion."
Curtis' commentary came alongside two recent photos of Anderson looking stunning in a yellow dress while attending the Isabel Marant show at Paris Fashion Week. Anderson wore her hair long and loose but slicked back from her face to showcase her fresh-faced look.
Anderson said she took up a more natural style after her dear friend and longtime makeup artist Alexis Vogel died tragically from breast cancer in 2019. "She was the best," Anderson told Elle in an interview this past August. "And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it's just better for me not to wear makeup."
MORE: Pamela Anderson says giving up makeup is 'freeing, fun and a little rebellious, too'Comments on Curtis' post have since been limited, but thousands weighed in over the weekend, including fellow celebrities like Selma Blair who wrote simply, "đź’›. Love this. Beautiful self assuredness."
Comedian Chelsea Handler was equally supportive, commenting, "That's pretty iconic."
Others offered slightly different perspectives in the comments, including some who suggested the makeup-free look could be less about a "revolution" and more about Anderson finding herself and what she feels most comfortable in. "I don’t think we should start applauding less makeup, more makeup, etc., but rather women embracing what THEY want to do in the moment and not what anyone else wants them to do," one Instagram user wrote.
Anderson's updated approach to beauty and makeup, in addition to being tied to Vogel's tragic death, also appears to come from a place of radical self-acceptance learned over her years of "life-ing," a word she said over the weekend she prefers to "aging."
In a short interview with i-D at the Victoria Beckham Spring/Summer 2024 show on Friday, the actress and model was asked what her biggest beauty secret is.
"These days? 'Don't do anything,'" she said. "Wake up. Whatever's happening is just happening. It's all about self-acceptance. This is the chapter of my life I'm trying to embrace now.... Sometimes it's challenging, and you just have to understand that you're good enough and that you are beautiful."
