With summer just around the corner, it’s a good time to rethink your beauty routine.
Whether you apply a full face of makeup or go for a more natural look, it’s key to always use a product with SPF.
Board-certified dermatologist and skin cancer surgeon Sheila Farhang, aka Dr. Sheila, said she recommends her patients use at least SPF 30 every day and at least SPF 50 when out in the sun.
“It is always recommended to reapply every two hours, no matter SPF 15 use or SPF 100,” Dr. Sheila told “Good Morning America.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “years of overexposure to the sun lead to premature wrinkling, aging of the skin, age spots, and an increased risk of skin cancer.”
Because of this, Dr. Sheila said it is important to look for the words “broad-spectrum,” which means a product protects from UVA and UVB rays.
