Bestselling author, journalist, mom and fashion guru Eva Chen has launched a sustainable, limited-edition kids collection for fall with H&M that Chen says was inspired by her three children, River, Ren and Tao.
"I have three kids, all of whom have varying opinions on fashion," Chen told "Good Morning America." "I was really inspired by the joy that my children got from playing outside and being in nature."
The collection features fun and playful designs with nature-inspired motifs, including trees, flowers and mushrooms, on denim jackets, bucket hats and more -- perfect for the back-to-school transition.
Chen joked that by the time she was raising her third child, meticulous outfit planning was no longer paramount. "I wanted to design a line that moms will want to cherish and keep as hand-me-downs to share with other moms," she said.
"It will be like the sisterhood of the traveling kids denim jacket," she added. "The pieces were designed to be loved."
When it comes to adult fashion, Chen said that good denim is something to invest in for any season.
"Jeans can take you from day to night, so you'll want denim that makes you feel like a million dollars," she said. "For some, that might be a vintage style. Others might want more stretch. I say a classic straight-leg pair of jeans is something that you will truly wear forever."
"You also can't go wrong with a classic boxy white t-shirt. This is another great way to easily go from school drop-off to a fun lunch with friends," she added.
According to Chen, the fashion industry is "moving away from lists that tell you what is in or what is out."
"If it looks good on you and you feel confident in it, that is the most important thing," she said. "When you feel good, it's good."
