“World News Tonight” Anchor David Muir will meet twice with President Obama in Havana, conducting exclusive interviews with the President during his historic trip to Cuba. This is the first visit of a United States President to Cuba since President Calvin Coolidge in 1928.
Muir has been following the changing U.S. relationship with Cuba closely, landing the first exclusive interview with President Obama in December 2014 on the day the President announced proposed changes. Muir anchored “World News Tonight” from Havana in January of 2015 as the President announced further changes in the relationship. Muir was in Washington, DC, interviewing Cuban officials when the Cuban embassy officially re-opened in Washington last July.
The first conversation with the President will air on Monday, March 21 on “Good Morning America” (7:00–9:00 a.m. EST) and across all of ABC News and platforms. The exclusive sit-down interview will air Monday on “World News Tonight with David Muir.” More of the interview will air later on “Nightline,” and Tuesday on “Good Morning America.” Extensive coverage of the President’s visit and Muir’s interviews will appear on all ABC News platforms throughout the visit.
Muir will anchor “World News Tonight” from Havana on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
