#VeteransForKaepernick Goes Viral on Twitter

WATCH: National Anthem Backlash Builds for 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick's refusal to stand during a pregame performance of the national anthem has put him at the center of a national conversation. The quarterback sat in silent protest out of his belief that he should not show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses people of color.

Some are accusing the quarterback of being unpatriotic and anti-military. On the other hand, others are proud he is using his platform to bring awareness to America’s issues with race.

That conversation continued Tuesday night, but this time on Twitter underneath the worldwide trending topic #VeteransForKaepernick.

U.S. veterans took to social media to defend the NFL star by posting pictures of themselves in uniform with the hashtag describing why they support him.
