A North Carolina highway was bombarded with potatoes early Friday morning after some 50,000 pounds of spuds spilled from a truck, according to troopers. The pileup was so enormous, the highway had to be shut down.

The driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel on Interstate 77 in Charlotte around 2 a.m. and crashed into a concrete barrier, sending tens of thousands of potatoes all over the road.
