Who is the biggest fashion icon in Britain’s royal family?
One might assume it is Duchess Kate, but these days it is her son, Prince George, the third-in-line to the British throne, whose outfits are selling off the shelf in minutes.
Most recently, the red shorts and white shirt worn by nearly 2-year-old Prince George to his sister’s christening on Sunday have all but sold out.
Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana Christened in Front of Royal Family, GodparentsThe $125 Rachel Riley shorts and white shirt with red piping trim went flying off the shelves within hours of Prince George being seen around the world with his mom and dad, Prince William, outside the church on the Queen’s Sandringham Estate where Princess Charlotte was christened.
The outfit worn by Prince George is now sold out in sizes for 12-month and 18-month-olds, with only some stock left for parents wanting to emulate the royal look in the 3-month and 6-month size.
Rachel Riley has been a go-to designer for Princess Kate's children's clothes. Prince George wore a pair of her sailboat overalls for his first public engagement, his New Zealand play date last year.
The adorable blue shorts set Prince George wore while holding Princess Charlotte in the photographs shot by the Duchess of Cambridge and released officially by Kensington Palace was also designed by Rachel Riley.
Prince George’s red Rachel Riley shorts set he wore Sunday looks nearly identical to a similar outfit Prince William wore when he was taken to see his younger brother, Prince Harry, in the hospital for the first time in 1984.
George also wore the same outfit as his father for his first Buckingham Palace balcony appearance during last month's Trooping the Colour celebrating the birthday of George's great-grandmother, the Queen.
Editor's Note: The Rachel Riley outfit worn by Prince George at Sunday's christening is now available for pre-order only on the Rachel Riley website.
