Severe thunderstorms headed to the South

WATCH: Major rainstorm to hit East Coast

More rain and thunderstorms are expected across the South, from Texas to Florida, over the next three days.

On Thursday, hail, possible tornadoes and damaging winds are expected in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Cities in the bull's-eye include Fort Worth, Waco and Oklahoma City.

On Friday, the severe weather will push further east, stretching from Dallas to Pensacola, Florida.

By Saturday, the storm will reach the Southeast, from Tallahassee, Florida; to Atlanta; to Charlotte, North Carolina.

Flood watches have already been issued for Birmingham, Alabama, and Atlanta for Friday and Saturday. This comes after a daily record 2.36 inches of rain fell in Atlanta on Wednesday, flooding roads and neighborhoods.

Meanwhile, heavy rain is pounding New England on Thursday, and another storm is forecast to hit the Northeast on Saturday and Sunday, bringing more rain and potential flooding.

There's also a chance for snow in the higher elevations, from the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania to the Catskills in New York to Vermont and New Hampshire. Six to 12 inches of snow is possible in the highest elevations.
