Referring to her father by his nickname, William, Julia Louis-Dreyfus said, "I'm so glad that he liked 'Veep,' because his opinion was the one that really mattered."

Gérard Louis-Dreyfus was a French-born billionaire businessman, according to Forbes. He was 84.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, 55, broke a record when she won the Emmy for her role as Selina Meyer, a fictional vice president who later becomes president in HBO's "Veep." She now has the most lead comedy actress trophies, passing Candice Bergen and Mary Tyler Moore.

Louis-Dreyfus beat out Laurie Metcalf ("Getting On"), Lily Tomlin ("Grace and Frankie"), Tracee Ellis Ross ("Black-ish"), Amy Schumer ("Inside Amy Schumer") and Ellie Kemper ("Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt") in the category.
