Who needs a point-and-shoot camera when you have a new iPhone?
Photographer Lisa Bettany, co-founder of MagiCam and Camera+, tested nine iPhone cameras, shooting the same object in the same light.
Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus: What Makes These Phones DifferentThe evolution of the iPhone camera is stunning when looking at the comparisons side by side. The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which went on sale last Friday, were included in the comparison.
The new iPhones include a 12-megapixel iSight camera -- 50 percent more pixels than the iPhone 6 -- and both iPhone models have the ability to take larger panorama photos and, for the first time, 4K HD video. There is also a new 5-megapixel FaceTime HD camera for more detailed photos. The flash on latest iPhone cameras offers TrueTone lighting, which matches the light with the ambient lighting.
"We only begin to see the details in the pencil crayon tips with the iPhone 5 and 5s due to addition of the five-element lens which increased the sharpness of images," Bettany wrote on her site. "The iPhone 6 is a brighter image thanks to the local tone-mapping algorithm added to this version, but the clear winner is the iPhone 6s."
