Gorilla at Louisville Zoo wants man to swipe right on his photos

WATCH: Zoo gorilla is a sucker for cellphones

This gorilla is ready to hit the dating scene.

A cute moment was caught on camera at the Louisville Zoo as Jelani the Western lowland gorilla appears to ask a man to swipe right as he scrolls through pictures on his cell phone.

“I thought it was awesome!” Sierra Anderson, who took the video, wrote to ABC News on Twitter of the animal’s impressive gesture. “Gorillas are very intelligent animals and it reminded me how they are a lot like humans. Very weird but awesome! I took the video and posted it just for fun and after ten minutes it had two favorites and the next morning it was viral!”

Kyle Shepherd, the zoo’s media relations manager, told ABC News Jelani especially enjoys looking at photos and videos of other gorillas, “but he’ll look at anything.”

“He’ll either do his hand in that motion or he’ll tap the glass when he’s ready for you to move on,” she said.

Shepherd said the 20-year-old gorilla “has been doing this for a while” and the zoo “enjoys his celeb status” every time he goes viral.

She said Jelani first began watching videos while he was injured at another zoo and they had to pull him out of the exhibit.

“They’d watch videos with him while they were caring for him around the clock,” said Shepherd. “We believe that’s when it began.”
