Morgan Geyser, 14, will plead not guilty due to a mental disease or defect in the Slender Man stabbing case, her lawyer said.

One of the two girls accused of trying to sacrifice a 12-year-old classmate to a horror figure named Slender Man by stabbing her will enter a plea of insanity, according to her attorney.

Morgan Geyser, 14, who was also 12 at the time of the May 2014 stabbing, will plead not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect, her lawyer, Tony Cotton, said during a court appearance in a Waukesha County, Wisc. Friday. Cotton also requested a change of venue for the trial.

The other girl charged with attempted murder, 14-year-old Anissa Weier, who was also 12 at the time of the attack, also appeared in court.

Judge Michael Bohren appointed two doctors to conduct evaluations of the girls to be considered at the next court hearing on Oct. 13. Bohren said he anticipates setting a court date for March or April 2017.

Both Geyser and Weier will be tried as adults on the charge of first-degree international attempted homicide. Cotton said he does not plan to appeal the ruling that ordered them to be tried as adults.

They are accused of tricking their friend into coming over for a sleepover before they allegedly led her to a nearby forest and stabbed her 19 times. The victim survived.

Last year, Cotton told ABC News that Geyser committed the crime because she "believed in Slender Man."
